JBP2009

Day 2 of Psychiatric clinical over. I’m telling you 5am is just much too early for a morning disliker to have to wake up! The girls picked me up again this morning  and all three of us were growling. Had  a good day, and more importantly learned a lot. Here’s a share:

For many people thinking about the past can cause increased depression, and looking into the future can cause anxiety. Seriously, right now in this economy you do not need to have a medical diagnosis to have some anxiety while thinking about the future. When you are feeling this way it is important for us to control our minds. To let our mind control some of our ‘moments’. We are so busy thinking about yesterday, today and tomorrow, it’s good to just be Mindfulness for 5 minutes a day. Your spirit and soul…and mind and body will thank you!!

Simply tune out the world around you and concentrate on an object near you for 5 minutes. Really look at it and just concentrate on it’s design etc.

5 minutes is a long time and some people cannot do the entire 5 minutes the first time around. Work your way up if necessary. No right or wrong. I have to be completely honest with you and tell you that for the FIRST time in years I did not think about yesterday, today, tomorrow, next month, next year, my responsibilities, things I need to do/things I should be doing. I truly felt relaxed and honestly feel that my mind needed this 5 minutes of rest. I have bought myself a number of meditation books, and meditation cd’s, with all of the intentions to begin meditating. Yeah, you guessed it, I haven’t! But, I am pulling them out and taking 5 minutes every day or night after todays experience. Seriously friends, take 5 minutes and try it yourself, then let me know…

Oh, you wanna know something? 2 months from today I will officially be a Graduate Nurse for 1 day!! Exciting stuff and lots of fun stuff on the horizons…will share lots soon.

And a reminder:

{Oh, and I want to post a call out for anyone who may be interested in being a Designer on a weekly sketch blog. There are 4 available openings. Oh how true! I think I never enjoy time off because I don’t know how to ‘just be.’ I think I could stare at that beautiful picture for five minutes and be happy, though being there in real life would be the best!

When I let myself be I can let it all go lying on the couch with the cat on my chest purring away. Cats do have the life!
