I’ve received a few comments about my family monthly menu plan and I thought I would share a little more information. I cannot even begin to emphasize how much easier this makes supper time. No indecisions, no looking thru the pantries/freezer trying to figure out what to cook.

I print out monthly calendars from word and with a pencil in hand I plug meal ideas in and erase and reorganize to fit our needs. A lot of people will opt for a Meatless Monday, which is a good way to remember. In our home our meatless night is Tuesday, and we only have pasta one night a week. I only plan the main meal, I do not plan vegetables etc as that is a given that we are going to have a vegetable. Once I have my menu situated and meals spaced out I then transcribe it onto my main menu plan on the fridge. I use my menu to plan grocery shopping which helps from purchasing those unneccesary purchases.
Woman’s Day has a great Recipe section from their April edition, Eat Well for Less 7 Days of Dinners. A lot of the ingredients are probably already in your pantry. I’ve added the Chicken Fajitas to next months menu plan. Woman’s Day also has a great Month of Menus.
On the side of our fridge is info needed to keep us organized for appointments/work schedules etc.

Yeah, I LOVE organization. My brain seriously cannot take the chaos of disorganization.
Sunday business, same ‘ole-same ‘ole–change bedding and charge cell phone and camera batteries. I don’t need to charge my iPod specifically on Sundays anymore, now that I have my cute little iPod dock! I’ve been working on purging thru unnecessary paperwork this weekend and cleaned off the bookcase in the livingroom to goodwill a number of books that I do not need that are occupying space and attracting dust–neither of which I am a fan of.
I am going to take another break from a long To-Do list again this week. I have a couple of things that I would like to accomplish, but if I don’t, it’s okay. Well, this beautiful day is flying by much too quickly, and I need to get a few things accomplished.
And a reminder:

I think the menu planning is a great idea! I have yet to ever actually try it though, lol.
WOW, this is such a good idea! We are tying to save money and eat healthy and am so glad you posted thsi!
Menu planning is a great way to take the chaos out of dinner and save some money and I love your idea of having a meatless Tuesday. Cutting meat from your diet once a week is a great way to save money and is great for you.
That’s why I work for Meatless Mondays, a non-profit public health initiative which encourages Americans to cut out meat one day a week in order to reduce public rates of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer. The added bonus is that fruits, veggies and starches are also a lot easier on your wallet.
In the spirit of St. Patrick’s day, our site is featuring articles and recipes to help you get more green in your diet. I hope it inspires your next monthly menu! You can find us at http://www.MeatlessMonday.com.
