{Simply Sunday} will be focused on simple living, healthy living, frugal ideas, helpful links etc.
To-Do
I’ll be tackling my usual Sunday system in an attempt to keep me organized this week, and more importantly, hopefully I am able to get a few things accomplished.
To-Do List for the Week
-
Daily Project 365
-
Create card for Saturdays Unscripted Sketches
-
Tackle the attic
-
Work on new iPod music list
-
Begin reading Twilight
This’n That
I was reading an article related to small changes that bring big results recently, and thought I’d share just a couple things that gave me that ‘ahuh’ moment.
-
Save Money: Have $20 automatically transferred into your savings account each week. In a year you’ll have more than $1,000 in your savings.
-
Reading: Reading 10 pages a day will take about 20 minutes. In a year you’ll have read 3,650 pages, or about 18 200-page books.
-
Run a 10K: Start with 10 minutes. A 10K is a little over 6 miles. Begin with intervals, run as long as you can, then walk, then run again. Get to a track twice a week and make your goal to run 12 laps after 12 weeks. From there add two laps a week. You’ll actually have mastered the 10k after four months.
-
More Exercise: Wear a pedometer. Measure your steps on an average day. Add 2,000 to that number. In a year you’ll have walked as many as 350 extra miles and burned off about 22,000 calories.
-
Lose Weight: Focus on cutting 200 calories a day. In a year this small daily change will save you 70,000 calories, and you will have dropped about 20 pounds.
Very doable, and look at the fantastic results!!
Heres my Project 365 for today

Around the House
Do you remember the 100 object talk going on some time ago? People were decluttering and attempting to lessen their possessions. I do feel that to an extent I am a minimalist, while at the same time have ‘things’ that show who I am and my personality. I could never do this, but I am attempting to ‘simplify’ my home a tad bit more.
Remember I had to move my scrapbooking/rubberstamp supplies out of the sunroom and move into the diningroom. This has been really hard on me, as many of the things that were in the sunroom had to be packed up and put up in the attic. Friday night I did some rearranging of the furntiture in the diningroom…

As the plan is to sell the house and move to a much warmer weather state, I am struggling with how I am going to be able to downsize…
In the Kitchen

I came across this hoosier last weekend at an antique store, and I have to tell you that I am still having dreams about this coming home to my kitchen. I would sand her down pretty and paint her red and oh my!! Of course we won’t even mention the price tag on her.
Tonight I decided to begin the Amish Friendship Bread starter mix. If you are interested:
Starter:
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
Mix yeast, flour and sugar together. Add warm water and milk. Mix together with a wooden spoon until smooth. Place in a plastic or glass bowl, or in a ziplock baggie.
Day 1: Begin or receive starter
Day 2: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 3: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 4: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 5: Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 1 cup flour
Day 6: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 7: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 8: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 9: Stir with wooden spoon
Day 10: Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 1 cup flour. Then put 1 cup of starter mix in each of three containers.
I’ll post remainder of the recipe next Sunday.
In the Stores {frugal shopping/couponing}

Last night I was able to use a few coupons and I ended up paying nothing out of pocket for all of the items in the above photo.
One year subscription for Real Simple magazine for $5.00. Hurry, offer expires 7/18.
Well friends, I hope you enjoy this Simply Sunday post, I am tired and need to concentrate on a few things before this Sunday comes to an end. I would love to hear some comments/feedback from all of you who are reading. Until next time…

I love that hoosier cabinet, I understand dreaming about it. Not good for downsizing though!
Hi Jenny!
I love your Simply Sunday posts! I went back and read some of your posts, esp r/t weight loss and healthy weight management. I work at a major Chicago health care facility doing this very thing and my gosh, the reasons people come up with for not doing these simple things is amazing. Sadly, they often end up in another area of the facility (ER, for instance) with life threatening problems that could have been avoided simply by changing their eating habits just a few years earlier. But some people just don’t want help and they relish in being a victim. Congratulations to you on being a textbook case for gastric bypass and reconstructive surgery! Your stats are perfect. And anyone who thinks this is the easy way out, obviously hasn’t a clue about the procedure or what’s involved afterwards. Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration, as well as a great resource, especially for those just trying to lose a few pounds or maintain their current weight! Speaking of, I’ve eaten way to much Key Lime pie while visiting friends and family in Florida this past week. Flying home tonight and it’s back to running and calorie counting!
(PS – love your scrapping/cardmaking projects too)
