Introducing…my new Girlie!!

Everyday Life | Friday 8 January 2010 8:43 pm

My new girl arrived at the car dealership last night, and this morning I handed over “Misery”.

We had “Misery” for 6 days shy of five years! The longest that I have ever kept a vehicle! Love her, but it was time to say farewell.

And now, introducing my new Girlie!!

My mom suggested to name my new car “Elvis” as today is Elvis Presley’s birthday. I was thinking more along the lines of “Bella”.

Important information that I want to share with each of you…

I was reading recent news on WCSH6.com when I clicked on an article from a few months ago: Mother Shares Painful Story Of Consequences Of Distracted Driving. My heart breaks for this family. A beautiful young woman taken much too soon. As I read the story a piece stood out to me that Mrs. Bouchard is trying to educate people. Her daughter was not carrying  an ID with contact information about next of kin and it took police almost five hours to find her parents. By the time the Bouchards flew from Madawaska to Portland to get to the hospital, it was too late.

  • -If you have a cell phone you should have an ICE [In Case of Emergency] contact
  • -The American Ambulance Association has created invisibleBracelet.org where you will register your medical information on line and ICE contact information. Membership is $5.00 per year. It is NOT available in all areas as of yet, but it looks like they are working hard to make this available nationwide. Peace of mind for $5.00 a year! You can guarantee I will be registering my children when it is available to us.
  • -Generate a FREE Medical Emergency Information Card, prints out into a wallet size.

Until later, here’s to a wonderful weekend!

Woohoo! Congrats on the new vehicle! Perhaps you should have a name-the-car contest on your blog? :) The only car I remember having a name for is when I was little we had an old black something that we called Hildegard. :D

Beautiful car! I love the idea of having an ICE, and contact card in the wallet. That story breaks my heart and I am going there now to see if it’s avail in my area.

CONGRATULATIONS! You deserve it, you’ve worked so hard. As an EMT having info available is awesome. Even if you tape something to your visor, it helps!
