the Little THings

Everyday Life,RN Journey,Simple Living | Friday 20 August 2010 5:03 pm

I look at this quote block everyday, and everyday I try to remember the importance of including these words into my everyday life. Because of personal life choices, confidentiality, etc, there are parts of my life that I am unable to share in entirety. And right now in my life, I do not need anymore drama, that’s for sure.

…last night I found out that my mentor is suddenly, no longer a part of my life. An amazing woman. An amazing leader. An amazing Nurse. Because of our weekly meetings together I am a better leader, and a better Nurse, because of her…[little] blocks of time spent together that were pieces of the ‘big things’ in my life…

I’ve been looking around my bedroom and have decided it needs a little bit of love. I want to look around for a new bedding set, and the possibility of repainting my bedroom set [this will be a long drawn out project to say the least], and I would love to recreate this into a throw pillow for my bed. Must see if my girlie, Jeryn, can help me with the digital rendering. Maybe do a second one that says, “and good morning too.” Oh, the ideas…oh, the lack of time/energy/motivation!

Well, as usual this beautiful day has passed before me because I have slept most of it away. Tonight is 4 of 4 and I need to find myself thinking about a nap before I head towards that interstate. Night friends!!

At the End of the DAy

Everyday Life,Simple Living | Wednesday 18 August 2010 5:29 pm

I work with a woman that uses that saying and whenever I think of her words it makes me smile because you can use these words in so many different contexts.

I know at the end of the day I have been the best nurse, mentor, wife, mother and friend that I could possibly be for that day, and each day I try my damndest to improve…but have found taking those moments to breathe. be me. and laying under a tree with a good book is exactly what I need, at the end of the day.

At the end of your day, I hope it’s as beautiful as mine!

19 Wishes…

Everyday Life,Family,Simple Living | Tuesday 17 August 2010 6:44 pm

Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.  -Larry Lorenzoni

Today we are celebrating my youngest sons birthday. Still cannot believe that Matthew is 19. The years have flown by much too quickly. I was blessed to give birth to this young man, and so thankful to be his momma. Matthew is a gentle, old soul. 19 years ago as I held him for the first time he melted my heart and took my breathe away and 19 years later that feeling still continues…

I love you Matthew.

For the LOve of Girlfriends

A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked- Bernard Meltzer

I tried to escape Nikki’s need to go shopping this morning by telling her I was depressed, exhausted, and had no clean clothes. Sounded like very reasonable excuses to me, but she accepted none of them and practically forced me in the car. So off we went shopping. While Nikki was having her hair done, I had a manicure. I had forgot how wonderful it is to have a manicure. Must remember to spoil myself more often…I picked Oliver up a special treat and found four new shirts for myself.

So happy to have Nikki in my life.

Another quick and easy card, with no worries of perfection, that I created tonight. I want the focal point to be on the beautiful paper, and the message that I write inside to a dear friend..

Hard to believe that tonight is the last night of my vacation. I can’t say that I have gotten a whole lot accomplished, but my exhaustion has lessened and I feel pretty good. I’ve spent some wonderful time with my husband, and have been able to sleep in, and today, was able to spend time with my best girlie…I am blessed.

Don’t leave me Sunday…

I am beginning to realize that it is the sweet, simple things in life that are the real ones after all. -Laura Ingalls Wilder

In Terri’s words here’s a look at a few of my new ch-ch-ch-changes that are also meant to challenge myself.

  • The look of my blog posts
  • Weekly tried and true recipe
  • Daily 15-minute project
  • …more stuff in the next few days

A few more photos from our trip down to Rockland and the Farnsworth Art Museum yesterday. Such a charming town!

Today we’ve been kicked back relaxing, and being lazy. Playing around on my blog, writing down ideas, things to do, watching movies, and slowly reading thru these pages, and I have to say Jo’s studio simply rocks!!

Cooking up some new foods here [seriously need to put all of these cookbooks to use], Chicken Divan, delicious!

Loving this fast, and simple card that I created tonight. I am going to attempt to ‘create’ something everyday. 15 minutes of creating ART without worries of perfection, etc.

For here I am going to run along to enjoy the remainder of this beautiful Sunday. Here’s to a beautiful week full of good stuff for each of us.

CHanges, and my personal Artist!

Everyday Life,Simple Living | Saturday 14 August 2010 9:40 pm

Without change, something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken. – Frank Herbert

Hello Friends, and hello to the remaining few hours of our Saturday. Today was a great day spent walking around exploring antique stores, acquiring a few new goodies for my home, and laying in the shade of a tree reading, and in general, living for the moment and not thinking about a moment further.

Today was the Farnsworth Art Museums Paint the Town, and Keiths fifth year participating. His painting was gorgeous, and sold at auction, so exciting!!

And yeah. Ladies, I am really sorry to point this out…but, yeah, he’s mine. [insert 'ugh' here] But, I sure do love my geeky, gorky, strange boyfriend!

So…changes! I LOVE changes. Seriously. Okay, let me rephrase this…I don’t like the changes that take place during the middle of the night that you are not privy to and when you arrive to work the next morning they try to make you think that’s the way it’s always been…[bet you can't tell that's happened a time or two during my career]. I [used] to live to change my house around. It’s amazing how a change of curtains and placement of furniture can make a room look brand new. [now, I'm just too tired to do all that manual labor of moving furniture around]

I have sooo many awesome, and I hope realistic and more importantly INSPIRING changes coming to my blog…are you ready?

Until tomorrow…
