I [heart] a good SALE!

Everyday Life | Tuesday 12 October 2010 9:30 pm

After work today I headed to the mall for some much needed shopping. Last week while at work I felt a pop in my right sneaker, signaling it’s life was over. I have been told that I have very high arches, and the life expectancy on my sneakers are not usually very long. So after work I picked up two new pairs, as it was buy one, get one 50% off, and you received a $10.00 coupon for every $50.00 spent. And, now…I have no excuse and have to begin visiting the gym next week.

At my new job as a Psych Nurse, they request that we not wear scrubs [huge gasp here, considering 1/2 of my closet is scrubs]. Our dress code is business casual, which I had none of, so I had to invest in a few outfits to get me started. I found Sears having huge, huge sales! Docker style dress pants regularly $36.00 on clearance for $17.00, and button up cardigans regularly $40.00 on sale for $19.00. And, I received a $10.00 gift card…I won’t mention that I missed out on a $20.00 gift card by $3.00. Bleh.  I’m excited because typically when I go clothes/shoe shopping it always seems like I miss the deals/sales.

In Saturday’s post I began talking about our wanting to get out of debt by following the suggestions of Dave Ramsey, and in Sunday’s post I mentioned that we were going to begin creating our 3 month goal of a $1,000 Emergency Fund…well scratch that! Yesterday Keith took my car into Hyundai as we received notice of a recall on the struts last week. My car which is 7 months old is within the single digits of 30,000 miles [how painful!!], and at 30,000  miles Hyundai does a complete work over on the vehicle that costs $400.00. Because of it’s high mileage in such a short period of time we have to take extra good care of her and don’t want to put off this scheduled maintanence, so we are going to officially begin working on our Emergency Fund January 1st, but in the meantime will still be taking steps on cutting down on some of those living expenses that we are able to. Right now we are looking at cancelling dish and ordering cable in it’s place, more information to follow and the reasoning as soon as we have all the information.

Tomorrow is our last day of the classroom/tests/paperwork part of Orientation and I hit the floor orientating Thursday night 11p-7a. I am excited, and nervous…but, ready! And ready to not have to listen to an alarm go off at 0530. That is just too dang early for this night-owl.

Well, speaking of that alarm…it’s going to be going off before I know it, so I must close down and find myself sleeping. Talk soon…
