Weekend Getaway Part I

Daytrips/Getaways,Everyday Life | Monday 15 November 2010 3:54 pm

Keith and I spent the weekend in Boston exploring museums, eating some great foods, and having a wonderful time.

We visited the Rose Art Museum in Waltham, which is located on the campus of Brandeis University. I was excited to find Picasso’s Reclining in the Nude 1934. After we completed the tour of the Rose Art Museum we then walked around exploring their main street.

Picasso’s quote truly touched me and I wanted to share it here:

A picture is not thought out and settled beforehand. While it is being done it changes as one’s thoughts change. And when it is finished, it still goes on changing, according to the state of mind of whoever is looking at it. A picture lives a life like a living creature, undergoing the changes imposed on us by our life from day to day. This is natural enough as the picture lives only through the man who is looking at it…

Into Boston for the remainder of our trip where we walked around window shopping for awhile then visited the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

This museum is absolutely breathtaking. Knowing the museum has remained unchanged since Mrs. Gardners passing in 1924 adds a special feeling to the experience. Unfortunately no cameras are permitted inside.

Tomorrow I’ll create a Part II post. Until then, here’s to a beautiful week ahead of each of us…
