After my tanning appointment this morning Keith and I went to the Big Chicken Barn in search of particular antique items to finish up the decorating of the kitchen, and while walking around and perusing the many booths, I found this [not so antique] head vase, and brang her home.
School: My Nursing Research class officially ends on Sunday. I have four responsibilities remaining and it appears I just may survive. Phew! What a difficult course this has been!! On Monday, I begin Information & Healthcare Technologies Applied to Nursing Practice. The syllabus opened last night and unfortunately there is a group project. Other than three papers for the group project I am only responsible for three research papers, so it appears I ‘may’ be able to breathe a little easier this mod.
Work: A number of patients have completed their treatment and have/or are in the process of being discharged which will result in a new round of patients coming in. So wonderful to see patients respond to treatment.
Family/Life/Home: I have been searching for an antique Hoosier advertisement that I can frame in an antique picture frame and hang in the kitchen. One of the reasons I wanted to go to the Chicken Barn this afternoon. Of course, you know, I’m a little on the picky side, so finding the perfect advertisement has not been easy. Well…I found her! From The Ladies Home Journal May, 1921 this ad caught my eye, made me smile, and laugh. Remember, I am not the cook in this house. I don’t bake, or pretend to think that I can cook, because I cannot. I loved the wording: “The average woman spends entirely too much time and effort in the kitchen. This would not be so deplorable if it was not so unnecessary…” I loved the colors, and I love the knife in her hand pointing towards the cake and the look on her face, I can imagine her saying, “and don’t think this will happen often”…only because I believe I have repeated those words a time or two while I’ve been on kitchen duty! I’ll share a picture once it’s framed/hanging…
Etc: Yesterday I had my yearly eye appointment. Because of lattice degeneration with atrophic retinal holes in each eye, moreso in the right eye I have to have my eyes dilated and I absolutely hate it!! I told the doctor about taking a punch to the left eye and that I had been noticing some ‘floaties’ here and there since. He said it is due to the atrophic retinal hole and was very stern that if I am hit in the eye again I am to call his office asap to be squeezed in for an examination. He noted a very slight difference in my eyes, but wasn’t alarmed. Also yesterday I purchased a month of unlimited tanning at my local tanning salon: Sunkissed. Seriously folks: Insert sound of Angels singing right here!! I’ve been wanting to begin tanning for sometime now. Amazing how 6 minutes in the booth can make me feel refreshed and alive!
Well friends, I must get myself to bed. I’m running on very few hours sleep within the past 48 hours and of course it is almost catching up with me. Until later. Be well friends!!
