Happy St. Patrick’s Day! May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go. -Irish Blessing

Night 2 of 3 tonight, and #2 has to be better than last night. Thinking I would rather throw the covers over my head and hide out in my bedroom….very adult, I know, but I figure hiding out is better than the threat of self injury.

In my Kindle:  I am reading Eye of the Beholder: True Stories of People with Facial Differences by Laura Greenwald I wasn’t born with a cogenital deformity. I simply carry a scar from a childhood accident. And I remember the pain this scar has caused me. I recall being in an elevator in my early twenties when suddenly a man turned to me and said, “how did you get that scar?” unfortunately his mannerism, tone of voice, and look on his face made me feel like I had leprosy.  Over twenty years later and I can still remember how I felt. A thin whispy scar that I don’t even notice anymore when I look in the mirror…until someone points it out and the pain, and dislike for myself begins to bubble and sprew over. I can’t even fathom what it is like for people with facial differences more severe than mine. My heart breaks for the pain they have endured. Great book!

Time to find myself getting ready for work. Here’s to a quick, painless, palpatation free 12 hour shift!
