Sunday THoughts

Everyday Life,On my bookcase/In my Kindle | Sunday 17 April 2011 2:58 pm

Hold fast to your dreams, for without them life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly – Langston Hughes

For this weeks Camera Critters Meme: Isn’t this photo amazing? It is more amazing when you realize that this photo was taken at a waterfront festival, and this bird just appeared out of nowhere.

School: Entering into my last week of my Nursing Informatics class. It has been a very insightful class, and I have learned a lot. Still holding onto a perfect score of 100.

Family/Life/Home: It has been wonderful having Matthew living back home, and last night we found out that Reggie will be moving back home for a little while also. I am so excited to have both of my boys back home, and looking forward to some quality time with my boys.

One of my twenty-wishes for 2011 was to begin attending church again. Because I have finally chosen to embrace my religion and begin to practice as a Catholic again, I realized how much I have forgotten, and decided to begin a home study course which I will begin tomorrow. I am truly excited about this journey.

Etc:

  • Today on Amazon, Hobby Farm Home, 6 issues for $5.00. You can view more information about this magazine on their actual website Hobby Farm Home Magazine Website
  • Remember Me it doesn’t matter how many times I watch this movie, I still cry at the same exact moments…. [Tuesday, September 11, 2001.] “Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it, cause nobody else will.”
  • Karen, one of the nurses at work has brought three books to my attention to add to my Kindle; My Lobotomy. Imagine, being 12 years old and receiving a transorbital or ice pick lobotomy…and having no reason/or understanding as to why. The Lobotomist, a biography of Dr. Freeman who actually performed the lobotomy to the young boy in the book, My Lobotomy. In the review it is noted that in 1950 Dr. Freeman reported that he had performed 711 lobotomies. In my opinion, he was an absolute monster. And finally, The Lives They Left Behind you can view a few of the Willard Suitcases, and read about the people that they belonged to, and yes, I cried. Just absolute sadness…I am looking forward to reading these books.
  • Amazing. Plain, and simple, absolutely amazing:  Mom on Facebook sentenced in son’s drowning death Johnson told police the boy “wanted to be left alone” and was a very “independent baby.” She also told police she knew what it was like to be told “no,” and she did not want her baby to be told “no.” I had to go back and reread the beginning of the story to confirm that the child was 13 MONTHS old. I am 43 years old and I still have people telling  me no, and surprisingly, I ‘think’ I am pretty well-adjusted.

Hopeful that this week is full of good things. Until next time…

-Jenny
